Leo Rovinsky. Upper School

Leo Shines at Texas Boys State

Congratulations to AYA student Leo Rovinsky, who was selected to attend Texas Boys State, one of the nation's premier leadership and civic education programs sponsored by the American Legion. Each year, approximately 1,100 rising high school seniors from across Texas are chosen to participate in this immersive week-long experience, where students build and operate a model state government while developing leadership, public speaking, and civic engagement skills.

Representing American Legion Post #53 in East Dallas, Leo was one of just five students selected from more than 100 applicants interviewed by the post. During the program, he distinguished himself by earning his party's nomination for Texas Railroad Commissioner, one of the state's highest elected offices in the Boys State government.

Leo's accomplishment reflects his leadership, initiative, and willingness to step confidently into new challenges. We are proud to celebrate this outstanding achievement and look forward to seeing all that he accomplishes in the future.

It is not just about winning. It is about participating.

It is about standing up and being heard.

It is about being part of this great democratic process.

It is about listening to different opinions and trying to create the best solution.
